Diego Maradona was a very famous Argentine football player. He was born in Lanús, Argentina, on October 30, 1960. He grew up in a very poor family.

Career and Teams

He started playing professional football when he was only 16 years old for the club Argentinos Juniors. Later, he played for famous clubs like Boca Juniors in Argentina, FC Barcelona in Spain, and, most famously, Napoli in Italy.

At Napoli, he was like a god. He helped the team win the Italian league twice. Before he came, Napoli was not a top team.

The World Cup

Maradona's biggest success was with the Argentine national team. In 1986, he led Argentina to win the FIFA World Cup in Mexico. He scored a lot of important goals in that tournament.

In the match against England, he scored two very famous goals. The first one was called the "Hand of God" goal because he touched the ball with his hand. The second goal was a fantastic solo run where he ran past many players—it's often called the Goal of the Century.

Maradona had problems with drugs and his health for many years. He died on November 25, 2020, at the age of 60.
