🥤 The Sweet Story of Coca-Cola
The story of Coca-Cola began a long time ago in 1886 in Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States. A pharmacist named Dr. John Pemberton created the first recipe. It was a sweet syrup that he sold at a pharmacy called Jacob's. At first, he said the drink was a tonic or a kind of medicine to help with problems like headaches and to give people more energy. The original syrup was made with two main things that gave it its famous name: coca leaves and kola nuts. Dr. Pemberton’s bookkeeper, Frank Robinson, thought the two 'C's looked good for advertising and wrote the name "Coca-Cola" in the famous script logo that we still see today.
However, Dr. Pemberton did not think his drink would be a big success, so he sold parts of his business to different people. Before he died, another pharmacist and businessman, Asa Candler, bought the rest of the business and the secret formula. Mr. Candler was the person who really made Coca-Cola a huge company. He started mixing the syrup with carbonated water (the bubbles!) to make the drink we know today, and he was very good at selling it. He advertised a lot, and soon, many people wanted to drink it. Later, the company started selling Coca-Cola in bottles, and the unique, curved bottle shape was designed in 1916. Today, Coca-Cola is one of the most famous and popular drinks in the world, and it is sold in more than 200 countries and territories globally.
